Secondary student artists from Yavapai County, AZ are invited to submit
New Works of Art in the following three disciplines: Playwriting, Visual Art, or Poetry

All works must be created in response to Conflict or Social Crisis here or around the world
from the past, present or some imagined future.

For
Playwriting please see the Guidelines for Adult Playwrights.
Please Note
Students Must Write in the Short Play division only.

Visual Art if two dimensional should be matted and framed.  May include Photography.
If three dimensional should be no larger than 3 square feet.

Poetry Guidelines

  • Secure the Poem in a Folder with 3 brads.
  • Your name and contact information should appear on the Title page of your manuscript but not within the body of
the work.  It should include Poem Title, Name, Email address, Phone Number, Name of School and Name of
Community in which you live if different from name of school.
  • We will remove the title page from a work during the reading process to ensure an objective reading.
  • A page number and Poem Title should be included in the header area of each page following the Title page.
This ensures that should a poem become unbound it can be easily re-assembled.
  • All pages should be securely bound, preferably using brads, in such a way that judges and especially readers can
leaf through quickly and often roughly.  A good entry will be one that gets passed around a lot,
so make sure your entry can stand up to the punishment.
  • Top and left margins are to be set at 1.5 inches.
  • Bottom and right margins should be set at 1 inch.
  • Page numbers appear 1 inch from the top and right.
  • Avoid the use of italics.
  • Text is best set at 12 point in one of the following fonts:  Palatino, Times New Roman, Courier New, or Arial.  The
point size is to insure that text is easily readable.

Deadline for Submissions is February 1, 2011
