Harold Minuskin, a Holocaust survivor, was born in 1938 in a Polish town now part of Belarus. He and his family survived because they escaped into the Belorussian forests from their town, Zhetel, and joined up with the Jewish Partisan resistance fighters. His book, MY CHILDREN, MY HEROES – MEMOIRS OF A HOLOCAUST MOTHER, is a testament to his mother, whose incredible survival instincts enabled her to save her two small children. Harold received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from The City College of New York, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State College, and he completed the Management Program at University of California at Irvine. Over the last 48 years, he has worked in his profession at aerospace, commercial and government organizations. For the past 20 years, he has been employed as a Senior Design Engineer by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the research arm of the California Institute of Technology. His responsibilities include the design of communication systems for NASA’s Deep Space Network, which tracks the space shuttle and all satellites and deep space missions. He has designed equipment for all three of NASA’s tracking sites: one near Madrid, Spain, one on the outskirts of Canberra, Australia and one near Fort Irwin in the Mojave Desert of California. Harold has published numerous technical papers and holds two patents. He lives in Northern Arizona with his wife, Arlene. Arlene Minuskin is an award winning artist, performer, and member of the staff at Prescott Fine Arts Association. |
